This tool is comprised of all bolted construction, which provides easy dis-assembly for inspection and repair and the body is manufactured from steel alloy plates. This method eliminates the traditional problem of never-ending body cracking associated with cast tool bodies and totally excludes weld problems. Slips are hydraulically powered both up and down with a high gripping force, such that the tool may be used without safety clamps to secure the first few joints of a string. This tool has been designed with sufficient capability to hold back-up torque while making-up joints, thus eliminating the need for rig tongs or integral back-up tongs. Each slip travels in a machine slide which enables the slips to resist the effects of considerable torque and to provide positive, positional control of the slip during opening and closing. The pipe may be centered within the tool opening by means of an optional adjustable pipe guide system (patent pending). This system is quickly and easily adjustable to all pipe sizes, literally at the push of a button. The Flush-Tek is built with a 2-3/8” overbore, central body opening for collar or centralizer clearance. For example, the 13-5/8” tool has a 16” diameter central body opening. It also comes standard with a large umbilical port for deployment of subsea running tools. |
