Top-Tek: Change is Inevitable

The Top-Tek Difference
The Top-Tek system does the work of an entire casing crew with the touch of a finger from a trained technician or the driller from his control station. Starting with the tubular handling device that automates the process of transferring tubulars from the V-door or delivery system to centering them over the wellbore and lowering them into position. This greatly reduces manual handling requirements which are a large cause of rig–floor incidents. Top-Tek’s automated makeup sequence ensures smooth make-ups while providing precise control for final torque. Utilizing the power and performance of the top drive to apply torque and if necessary reciprocate, rotate and circulate to overcome crucial or troublesome down-hole conditions.

Designed with Safety
Designed to improve safety performance, operational efficiency and to meet or exceed the highest European standards, the Top-Tek system addresses five key safety issues:

  • Manual handling is greatly reduced by floor personnel, system is virtually “Hands-free”
  • Eliminating the breaks in job rhythm - normally associated when floor personnel switch jobs around
  • Communication –communication is directly between the driller and Top-Tek operator allowing for clear command and control instructions to be conveyed – systems can be integrated into drillers console
  • Equipment reduction – traditional operations result in safety hazards related to moving heavy dangerous casing tongs, spiders and other equipment which litter the rig floor, posing safety hazards for personnel
  • Stabbing Board - removes the need for a person in the derrick on the stabbing board for centering casing

Equipment Integration
With an integrated approach the Top-Tek system allows tubular service companies, drilling contractors and well service companies to automate the process of running tubulars, reduce manual handling and thereby enhance operations.

  • Top-Drive mounted Top-Tek CRT
  • Touch-Screen control system
  • Torque Turn Graph monitoring & control system
  • Flush Mounted Spider – Performance matched
  • Transfer Elevator – replaces single joint elevator
  • Fill-Up & Circulating fully integrated
  • Thread compensation
